Pink, Yellow, Orange

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

Although it's still technically winter, most brides that are planning their weddings right now are brides for the spring or summer.  For this reason, this post may seem out of season.  My idea for this week's blog came from one of my favorite flowers, Gerber Daisies.  You can really get them in most colors, but the colors that come to my mind are hot pink, orange, and yellow- perfect for spring or summer!  They're so pretty together!

Using this color combination, you can really order bridesmaid dresses in any of these colors.  I like orange.  A pretty orange dress can be hard to find, but when you find the right color orange, Gerber Daisies go really well with them!  See this picture?  This was a dress by Siri- number 9463 in Saffron.  You can also go with a hot pink or yellow dress.
Because I think orange is a harder color to find great pieces for, I'm going to focus on orange as the main accent color.  I found this amazing orange searsucker bowtie for the guys on Etsy.  Wouldn't it look great with the orange bridesmaids dresses listed above? For the bride, I like a larger bouquet of Gerber Daisies that matches the bridesmaid's bouquets.  I also think a nice added touch to the bride is having a white Gerber Daisy in her hair.  You can find these all over Esty!
I also love this garter I found because it ties in all three Gerber Daisy colors.  Little touches like garters, broaches, boutonnieres, and shoes really do make one wedding different from all other weddings- so don't forget these small touches. How gorgeous is the centerpiece below - a serious favorite!
When using yellow,  I always think of lemons! Lemon slices in the flowers vase gives a color and looks refreshing! More uses of lemons in the picture right below!
I was also trying to come up with a way for the guests to have fun, and also add brightness to the day!  Because this wedding would be in the spring or summer, I think a great added touch would be pink, yellow and orange popsicles!  Everyone loves popsicles, especially when it's hot outside!  Strawberry, banana, and orange flavors are also delicious!  You can even make them yourself... you know how we love DIY projects.

Another project that I think could be DIY, would be the guestbook.  The idea I had was a platter that you have people sign.  You can decorate the center with the date and your names or monogram (example shown here) and have all of your guests sign it.  I'm a big fan of guestbooks that can be used in everyday life. It may be easier to buy, but there is definitely the option of making it, if you're really crafty.

I have to say that I am more of a fan of the three color combination then just pink and orange. The pink and orange table overwhelms me a little bit because the colors seem too similar.
Polka dots can be incorporated into almost everything at your wedding. Look at these invitations and the pillows at the cocktail area! A small tip to think about when it comes to orange. I would suggest not to have orange be a bridesmaids color dress because the orange reflects onto people's faces and you make get a lot of umpa-lumpa looking bridesmaids.
Hopefully this is a good start to a fun and bright spring/summer wedding!  I would love to see how your personal wedding would turn out when using this as a start!  Happy planning! If you like this color combo check out a little different one Green Pink and Yellow or Coral and Turquoise or if you really like yellow but want to pair it with a not so loud color check out our Yellow and Gray

Pink and Brown

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

One of our couples, Latrice and Victor, have chosen the color combination of pink and brown, so this post 's inpiration is from them. Latrice is a little bit of a glam girl so we've try to capture the mix of glam and classic in this post. Honestly, it was really hard to find chocolate brown and pink wedding pictures because the trend has been so much of the "rustic" look that all the "browns" I was finding were woodsy. With that said these are the pictures that I believe still capture what we're looking for, but the best pictures of course will come from our bride's wedding this summer!
I love these cake pops; they could be used as favors and the pink buttons and bow tie are so sweet! I am loving the mantle with the flowers and the floating candles, so romantic. This cake is very much a pink and brown, but remember when you are picking out a cake it doesn't have to be your colors. It can be white with flowers etc. and sometimes be even prettier then the cake below (not taking anything away from the cake below).
These little flower girl dresses are so sweet with the brown ribbon and the flower girl basket.
The dark linens are nice, they really set a contrast for flowers or candles that sit on them. I love the hanging glass balls full of flowers hanging as a back drop to the bride and groom. It's so simple and elegant; just adds a little to the plain white.
I like that the groom is the only one wearing the light pink tie; it's a nice subtle way to separate him from the rest of the groomsmen. Below shows a how one couple used years with pictures for each table number; this adds personalization to each table and it will get people off their feet to check out the pictures at every table!
These bridesmaids dresses are so classy.
The thing about this color combo is that you don't have to use just light pink! You could use a lot of different shades of pink, especially for the flowers! I love pink champagne, would be a great thing to have for the girls while they are getting ready!
I love these favors - little personalize glasses with pink jelly beans! It adds to the color on the table and would be a great keepsake to take home!
These shoes were just so gorgeous and classy! This cake is beautiful, but more then that it's set up to be shown off! I love when a cake has it's own place to sit and be on display until it can be enjoyed. And if the location is in a awesome place like that it makes even better cake cutting pictures!
Really simple mix of flowers hanging down the aisle. Favors can be put in a brown and pink box - super cute. I had to add the picture of the chocolate puppy in the pink roses!
Check out our navy and pink blog and our pink and navy blog for more pink ideas! Hope I was able to help all those brides out there looking for some ideas with this color scheme!!!

Green Pink and Yellow

Monday, January 30, 2012

One of our brides told us that she is thinking about green, pink and yellow as a color combination; so to give her a little inspiration and see how others have used those colors we have created this post! We also included some ideas for how to use burlap with the colors! With these colors you can either mellow it down and use all pale colors or you can make it vibrant and use bright shades of the colors. We have some "bright" and "pale" versions throughout this blog.
Cute burlap sign could have it say anything; could make it a thank you sign and use it for your thank you cards after the wedding!
I love these yellow vintage chairs; makes for a great photo opportunity. I love the table numbers in the picture below. The use of a green wine bottle and then the burlap on a string is a good way to hold the table number information. If you were planning on using paper table numbers glued to wine bottles make sure you test it out first; paper doesn't stick super well to glass and you don't want to have to worry about the numbers falling off the wine bottles at the reception. That's why this idea below is so nice!
The green zigzag strips are so retro and fun. Silverware warped in burlap - wow! That could be a monuments DIY project if you have 100+ guests! But they are very cool!
Incorporate burlap in the bouquets by using it as a wrap. There are so many different kind of flowers that you can use with this color combination. They all look so different and give such a different vibe while all being in the same pink, yellow, and green (and white) color scheme.
You could use a "special drink" for the night and have it be your colors! This one is the pale yellow and green and there is a pink and green drink below too. The detail of a special drink is often forgot about but it can be a really cool and fun idea.
Really different shape of flowers above. If you love flowers lining the aisle but your budget is tight, you can seriously make these big flowers and save some money.
Using frame for table numbers is so easy to do yourself. Also it looks nice and you can use the frames over again. If you don't want to keep the frames yourself you can give them as gifts to people. And the frames do no have to be the exact same, so maybe you can find a home for all of them in your own home! A giant letter is a good photo op - and is another way to add color to a fire mantel or other place in the reception.
Another frame, but this time used as a menu. If you have great handwriting (or your friend does) all you would need is construction paper, scissors, a nice pen or marker and the frame! Another way to use burlap - frame each name card with it!
Loved these little girls pink ribbons, so sweet and innocent!
Hope this helps both our readers and of course our bride with the details of using Pink, Green and Yellow! If you want more just Green and White check out this post (it has recently been updated)!  Or our Yellow and Gray (which has also been recently updated!).

Until next time!

Pink and Navy - AGAIN!

Friday, January 27, 2012

Our Navy and Pink post has been by far the most popular this month - so we thought we'd give the people more of what they're looking for (especially one of our couples, Amanda & Tyler)! Here are some more navy and pink favorites! This is such a great color combination. The navy dresses are a girls best friend (very slimming) and the pink flowers really stand out! How fun are these Nike Shoes - JUST MARRIED! :) Love when brides have so many little details.
I like options of either using a navy table runner with the white linens or using navy linens with and adding the pink flowers to brighten the whole table. The picture below on the right is one of my favorites, not because of the program but because of the bridesmaids nail polish; it matches perfectly! With navy you can definately add navy and white stripes or a more decorative design like the picture below.
If you don't have a huge flower budget sometimes pedals on the table can give the same effect. I would add some tea light candles on the table below (left) to give the romantic ambiance to the room.

Bow ties are so charming; but if you don't want the groomsmen in them you could still have a ring bearer wear one! Not everyone does "get away cars" but they can make for some cute pictures. And if you have rented it or borrowed it for the whole day it's an opportunity for your photographer to have some different photo opportunities. You could even open the trunk and hang the dress from the back of it - I've seen that done it's very cool especially with classic cars! The picture above of the blue get away car kind of reminds me of something Ken would drive Barbi in :)
Bridesmaids with hot pink shoes is hot! :) There are so many different ways to do centerpieces. I love this tower of pink flowers; we haven't seen that done very often! It's nice too becasue you don't have to fight to see the people on the opposite side of the table. Pink flowers on top of the cake is something Erin already suggested I just found another picture of a beatiful example.

Navy and hot pink are fun bold colors, if you want something similar but a softer look try navy and light pink! If you haven't yet seen our first navy and pink post click here! If you like bright color combinations check out how you can use Neon Pink in our Neon Post!

Melissa
