Aqua and Cherry Red

Thursday, March 8, 2012

One of my favorite wedding color combinations is cherry red and aqua! It's a perfect winter wedding color combinations or also a bright fun summer color combination! It can be sharp and classic or soft and vintage. The picture above is of a cute clutch that you can buy through Etsy; it would be a perfect bridesmaid's gift (link at the bottom of the page).
These favors remind me of Tiffany gifts! The Tiffany blue box all wrapped up makes it look so classy. If you are a fan of red velvet cake this theme fits perfectly with your taste buds; red velvet cakes are so pretty and romantic. Strawberries are another sweet treat that fit in perfectly with this theme. I love how this couple used little blue baskets with strawberries in it for the table name cards.
This get away car is so sweet; I love get away cars they end up being some of the cutest photos of the whole day. Here are some more clutches, they are also available on Esty. Clutches or purses are such a great bridesmaids gift because it alleviates the "where should I put my phone and my camera." And it is a cute gift that can be used over again - so it's more practical.
Snowflakes or lobsters - both fit in perfectly with aqua and red color scheme! These little lobster suckers are the table names cards, very clever. Red velvet cake, red velvet cupcake, red velvet cake pops! Yum!
The invitations below are another Esty creation (see link at the bottom of the post). These colors also make me think of cherry blossoms, so if you wanted to do a cherry blossom theme there are a lot of invitations out there with that theme too. Try wedding paper divas website for more ideas.
Cute keepsake - wishes for the couple (below). Would be a really nice thing to be able to decorate the for the holiday's with a wreath with nice words from those who were with you at your wedding.

I also love these colors for the fourth of July weddings. They keep with the fourth of July theme without making your wedding into an American flag theme.

This necklace and earrings are found on Etsy. Jewelry is always a practical and nice bridesmaids gift. These are fun and vintage! And would give a nice pop a dress.

No matter the season - summer or winter - this color combination can be used in a lot of different ways and give a lot of different ambiances. Sorry about the inconsistencies in the blog posts! I am in the process of moving, so in a couple weeks we will get back to a regular schedule!

Mint

Thursday, March 1, 2012

What colors besides neon are trending? Mint! This color is going to be big for the spring so take a look at some of the ways you can encorportate it into your big day. We are seeing people pair mint with blue, or yellow, or pink. These colors would also look great for a baby shower or engagement photos. Mint really reminds me of the frresh salty air you would breath in on the beach. It's a clean and soothing color.
I love these earings!!! If you do too, they are from Esty - the link to buy them is at the bottom of this page.
If you haven't noticed we almost always include a picture of a bowtie whether it's on a groomsmen or little ring bearer. We also love the colored shoes! This color also can be used to capture a very vintage look with the old china or table centerpieces.

If you'd like to add mint to your shoes but don't actually want mint shoes, try using a shoe clip! Buy a pair of shoes that you love and that are comfortable and then simply add the clip. This one (right below) is on Etsy, the link to buy it is at the bottom of this post!

This color relates to closely to water, but you can take it completely different ways; you can make it more beachy of a feel or more out to see with boats and underwater creatures.
Who said your dress had to be white? I love this minted wedding dress and also the light pink wedding dresses - have you seen those on Pinterest?
Looking for a mint bridesmaids dress? Check out the link at the end of this post to this dress (above left). This style is really cute, it looks good on most body shapes and has a high neckline, so it's still very modest! But it's short so it's still flirty and fun. Also the bracelette right next to it is available at Nordstroms (link at the bottom of this post). I really like gold and mint - great color combo!
My favorite picture of this whole post is the boat name cards (below left) They are so cute! Would take forever to make yourself but are something that as a guest, I would save!

Now, this cake reminds me more of a baby shower. If you are going to make this cake yourself, my only suggestion woudl be to not use a color frosting. If you use a color you will not get the fresh cut lines like this picture because as you cut down the frosting will smear into the other colors.
If you want some truly unique shoes - check out the link for these below. They are BHLDN and are quite a lot of money in my humble opinion, but if you're a shoe person that might be something you'd like to spend your money on!
Hope you enjoyed this post! Make sure you look and see what is actually linked to buy if you have been searching for some mint color things. If you like this color check out some of our other color posts like Pink Green and Yellow or White and Green or Yellow and Grey!

Black and White Color Combo

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

Some things will never go out of style, and that's a black and white wedding. I really love black and white weddings it just keeps everything so simple and elegant. But I do also like when people add a pop of color to this combination. Some of my favorite colors to add to this color combination is red or turquoise. The photobooth thrend is still alive, but people are adding some creative aspects to the regular photobooth. The picture below shows a little window that people can pose behind or in front of and a basket of props. I think photo booths are a great way to capture all the guests at the wedding. It helps you get those pictures that you'd like to have but don't have time to "schedule it in" into your photographers schedule.
I really like the simple white cake. This cake below is so beatiful and elegant! If you were worried about having brown chairs mixed with black table linins - don't brown and black can totally go together and you can incorporate both the colors throughout all your designs.

The chair back is something I have never actually seen! But it's really cool if you can only do it for the bride and groom, you can have it resemble the dress and the tux! So unique and memorable!

Little boys in boties - so so cute! When using this color combo you can add a lot of designs such as the design on the cake below (left) or the striped table clothes (two pictures above)

More chair backs becasue they are so unique! Have you ever seen anything like this???

Hope you enjoyed this post! I will try to do a variation of this in the near future with pops of colors to show even more options!

Happy Wednesday!

Melissa

Yellow Gray and Black

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Yes, you are correct we have already done a gray and yellow color blog, but this one is specifically made for one of our brides who wanted to incorporate black with gray and yellow. So we found some MORE beautiful pictures of real weddings that used these colors. Gray bridesmaids dresses are so adorable but in this combination you could also have black bridesmaids dresses. Black is always a safe color, never goes out of style, and looks good on everyone. Above on the right are cake pops; if you have not tried cake pops yet you really should! They have them at Starbucks or better yet, at a local bakery.
Table seating cards; I am seriously in love with this idea! So clever to have people replace their names with a Polaroid photo of themselves. It would be a good keepsake to put all the photos into an album and look back to see what everyone looked like your wedding day (show your kids how goofy your uncle looked!).

Our bride loves orchids so we added an orchid bouquet for her as an idea. A lemon cocktail would be a really nice refreshing drink to serve guests.
I really like the black chairs and the black linens. Instead of purple orchids, use white orchids. You could either have the orchids in the the water with the floating candle on top or you could do something like the flowers below (left) which is a beautiful and classy look.
It has been very popular to offer guests flip flops for the dance floor but what makes this different is that the sizes are in different colors. I think that's really clever and another great way to add your colors to small details.

The mason jars with straws are really cute. You could put people's names and table numbers on the paper design and that would be a really unique table card idea. It would probably make the most sense at smaller weddings ( 50 or less), but if you have space and the capability of making them for 200 or more I'd say go for it! I would be impressed :)  I'm always a fan of the groom and groomsman wearing some colorful fun socks.
Ok I saw this picture of the lemoncello favors and started giggling to myself because it reminds me of my mother-in-law who came back from Italy and was all about lemoncello. It is an alcoholic drink that the Italians take a shot of after a meal. It tastses like a very strong lemonhead and is actually quite refreshing. So if you did have these as favors at your wedding you should send me two - one of rme and  one for my mother-in-law (delicious)!!!
The clutches below were gifts for the bridsmaids, which is such a great idea. That way your bridesmaids could have something for the day of that matches with what they are wearing and can be used after the wedding for special nights. Each one is a little different so that no one confuses there's with someone elses. If you had someone really crafty you could probably make them too!

If you have read any of our blogs you know we are huge shoe people! I really like the picture above - how the bridesmaids have gray shoes and the bride has yellow. I also like the signs that are wood that have been painted yellow (meaning if you find a sign that you want to use you can always paint it to match your colors!)

I really like these flowers because of the black centers, it fits the color theme just perfect! Well this has been another color blog post, hope you have enjoyed it! Check out our Yellow and Gray blog post becasue it's so similar and will give you some more ideas.

Melissa
